The Tale of the Flower and the Star

Beautiful.

Abdur Rahman's Corner

Peace, one and all…

The tiniest flower
gazes longingly into
the night sky, saying:
‘Come down to this earth,
O beloved star of heaven.
Come and dissolve me
with your great
light of beauty’.

And the star,
that wanderer amidst
love’s wide firmament,
caresses the flower’s face:
‘O light of my eyes!
I never left.
Can’t you tell?
I’ve always been here’.

And so life runs on
to its appointed destiny,
as the hearts of tiny flowers
resolve themselves in starlight,
hand in hand in hand,
all the way back to the beginning:
in the end, O my soul,
love Itself yearns to be made manifest.
